Waka Flocka Flame's "Hard in the Paint" was Luger's first instrumental to hit the radio waves.[4] Luger was in Atlanta when he first heard the song playing on the radio. Also, while in Atlanta, Luger got a phone call from Kanye West, although he didn't realize who he was talking to for almost 30 minutes. After realizing who it was, Luger agreed to fly to New York City to work with Kanye.[4] He eventually created eight backing beats for Kanye's use, including the beat of the singleH•A•M.[citation needed]

Luger also produced tracks on Rick Ross's Teflon Don, Waka Flocka Flame's Flockaveli,[5] Slim Thug's Tha Thug Show, and Kanye West's and Jay-Z's Watch the Throne. Luger records for Mizay Entertainment.[6] Luger is affiliated with fellow Brick Squad producer Southside. The two of them and rapper Waka Flocka Flame created production team 808 Mafia in 2011. Luger also worked with artists such as Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean, Wale, 3D Na'Tee, Juicy J, Soulja Boy, Snoop Dogg and 2 Chainz.[citation needed]

At the 2011 BET Awards, Lex won the award for Producer of the Year.[7]
